#CleanSeas
Working with the United Nations Environment Programme to help fight the plastic pollution problem in our seas.
The UNEP Clean Seas campaign aims to drive urgent positive action to tackle the growing problem of plastic in our seas.
Our campaign focus was “Source to Sea”, looking at the source of plastic - from land to rivers to seas - and aiming to highlight the primary source of ocean plastic pollution and what can be done to stop the ocean plastic pollution at the source.
We created the #FaceThePlasticTruth campaign in order to highlight the uneasy truths about the plastic pollution problem we’re facing.
We worked with the UNEP to translate scientific research into easy-to-grasp and sharable social content.
We looked at studies showing that rivers account for nearly 80% of global plastic emissions into the ocean and created the “Plastic In Our Streams” phase of our #FaceThePlastic campaign.
We played on the river streams and social steams analogy in order to “pollute” the social streams of some of the most popular social platforms.
We created a series of shareable assets and used synced posting in order to take over social feeds for a day.
The results:
4 platforms showcasing the message
300K people reached
107K views of the content
11K engagements from the UNEP audience
We also created an overlay to disrupt Twitch streams and help raise awareness of the plastic pollution problem.
The Twitch streamers we partnered with went live as usual and then let our overlay interrupt their stream so they could share our #FaceThePlasticTruth message.
Gradually hiding the livestream behind a mound of plastic, we showcased the pace at which our oceans are filling up with plastic.
